Don't go here for your Toyota needs
by JTQ23
This place only seems to care about getting you to the sales desk. You deal with so many people you can't even remember all their names and in the end you don't know who you would have to contact, if anything was ever to happen. Leased a brand new car and after about 1500 miles it already had issues. Took it there, said it was fixed and after I drove off, the same issue occurred. Left back a second time and it happened again. After the 3rd time, I asked to speak to a Manager and they would not even let me do that. I feel as though once I got into the car, they didn't care anymore about customer service.
- Pros: Selection
- Cons: Customer Service, too many people handling one sale, disregard to anyone's time
BUYERS BEWARE

My husband and I went to Gene Reed Toyota to look at purchasing a used SUV-we had just had a baby and our camry was not large enough to accomadate all of her stuff. Well, we found a Honda Pilot, 2004 model that we fell in love with. We were looking for a car in the $19,000 price range and the salesman informed us we could easily get a great deal with this car-his exact line was "You come to toyota dealerships to get a great deal on Honda's and Honda dealerships to get a great deal on Toyota's-thats how it works". Once we started the paperwork process, we were SHOCKED to see the first price offer-$25,000! We didnt go there to look at the pilot so were werent sure what the price should be. After negotiating we got to $21,000-with warranty, tags, etc we were still at $25,000. I went home that SAME NIGHT and logged in to their website so I could send pictures of the car to my family and what did I find? THAT CAR LISTED FOR $19,000 ON THEIR VERY OWN WEBSITE. I called the dealership and they said it probably was a typo. I was told the manager would call me back but that didnt happen. But, when I originally contacted them about a vehicle I did so via email. Some how my email resurfaced weeks later as being new and the sales manager sent me 4 emails asking if I was still interested. When I explained that this was an error and I had already bought a car and was unhappy-he quit writing. Then, a salesman sent me an email-One that had been assigned to help me and I told him what happened-his only response was "Sorry for the confusion. Thank you". EVEN THOUGH THE PRICE WAS ONLY $2000 FROM THE REAL PRICE-IT STILL INFURIATES ME THAT NO ONE HAD THE PROFESSIONAL COURTESY TO ADMIT THAT THEY WERE WRONG. I will NEVER shop here again-I will NEVER recommend that ANYONE buy here-and I will tell EVERY person I know to shop at West Ashley Toyota because I bought my Camery from there and felt like I was at least given a fair price.
- Pros: They arent worth the trouble of writing them
- Cons: THEY ARE DISHONEST AND COWARDS
Tried to take advantage of a woman shopping alone by quoting $21,000 for a Corolla

Last week at Gene Reed Toyota I found a 2006 Corolla S with just under 5,000 miles on it. One salesman told me the price was just over $16,000 which was within my budget and in the realm of what I researched to be a fair price. I drove the car and considered buying it. The salesman and I went inside to discuss a deal. I filled out the necessary paperwork and discussed trading my Camry. Once my credit was pulled, the salesman went to his manager, who I assume is the one who is supposed to close the deal. Well the manager is your typical ?used car salesman? fast talker full of it kind of guy. Aside from him commenting on my being a single mother, he fabricated his own single parent story in a pathetic attempt to build rapport with me. I?m a sales representative myself however, I am outraged by someone taking such a personal matter in one?s life and trying to use it for his own financial gain. Anyway, I chalked the matter up to slimy car salesmen tactics and continued to wait for whatever they were waiting on in their ridiculous time wasting sales tactic. In the meantime someone took my keys, so they could drive my Camry (yeah right) and determine its? trade in value. The manager informed me that there was a mistake in the pricing of the 2006 Corolla. He said it was over $21,000. (Yes, for an ?06 Corolla!). He suggested I purchase it for $350 a month or consider an ?07 Corolla (which we all know dealers make more money off of new cars). All the fast talking and number crunching had me confused and angry. I realized at that point that as a women shopping for car alone, this fool found me to be a prime candidate to b.s. his way into making himself some unearned cash. I became very angry, asked for my keys and left. I later talked to two managers who were both defensive, rude and unapologetic. One quoted the car at $18,995 after I had to get loud on him to just give me a price. I won't buy a car from them. They are unprofessional and dishonest.
- Pros: Had the car I wanted
- Cons: Dishonest Sales Manager
