Worst food ever.

by SCtraveler

we went to this restaurant Saturday may 2, 2009 over our anniversary and took my 10 yr. old niece. we walked several blocks anticipating a kick butt meal. upon arriving, I was tired and my niece was too so we got our food to go. I had a salad, he had pasta, and niece had tom. basil soup. told my hubby to stop at BK on the way to hotel b/c niece needed something besides soup. We got back, started eating, with much disappointment only to end up flushing it. We ate what little extras we got from BK and went to bed still hungry. No taste in any of the food except my bitter olives which I could not eat. THIS WAS THE WORST FOOD. If we had been able to, we'd taken the order back and DEMANDED a refund. We will never go again..Next time, we'll stick with Sticky Fingers.

  • Pros: Decent service.
  • Cons: Over priced, and horrible food.

Dirty

Food was OK. Restaurant could use a cleaning. If the dining room was that bad, I can only guess what the kitchen looks like.

Best Local Diner, in response to the other reviews

by rpereira1983

I have been a regular at Joe Pasta for many years now. Despite what the other reviews say, I have yet to have a problem. The pizza is great, and so are the prices. Their happy hour is one of the best in town. The staff always seems to leave customers with a smile and great attitude, not to mention, if you frequent they always remember your name. I have eaten at many restaurants in Charleston and around the east coast and also work in a restaurant as well. There seems to be a trend taking place with customers that severly needs to be addressed. First of all, don't go to a restaurant upset to begin with, because obviously, no matter what happens, you're not going be satsified. Second, for all the people that think you should get free food for complaining is disgusting. Third, a 15% tip is terrible these days, %20 is the going rate for good service, 18% if you were dissatisfied, and 15% if it was the worst experience ever. Servers make an average of $2.13 per hour, not even enough to cover taxes. Oh, and if you have that much time on your hand to complain about your experience at a restaurant, you shouldn't be aloud to dine out.

  • Pros: Price, quality, staff
  • Cons: none

WORST dining experience EVER!

by charlestonfoodfan1

I am a charlestonian that enjoys dinning out. I want to cover alot of ground and when I find a gem I revisit that restaraunt. I took some of my younger friends to Joe Pasta, not expecting the best food in Charleston but just a good tasting, fast, affordable meal. Little did I know that I was taking my friends into the worst dining experience of their lives. Our waitress was uniformed and clumsy. She sold us on a special that 20 minutes after ordering, came to inform us that the kitchen wouldn't make it for us because they were about to close. She informed us of this at 9pm...the restaraunt was closing at 11pm. After that she spilled a drink on one of my friends and had no means of cleaning up her mess. While we waited over 90 minutes for our food, kitchen staff came out of the kitchen to eat from the pasta buffet that we sat beside. When I asked the waitress to speak with the manager, the manager sent the waitress back to offer free bread. Free bread?! Gee Thanks. I told her to get the manager. The owner came to the table, which I politely pulled aside to not make a scene and told him about the problems with our dinning experience. Instead of offering a solution, the owner made me feel like I was wrong for being upset and told me we didn't have to eat if we didn't want to. At this point it was 10:40pm and my friends were hungry and tired. I told the owner to bring out the food and we can talk after the meal. The food came out shortly after and it was horrible, not to mention one of my friends got sick from it. I could go on, but to wrap this up, I would suggest to everyone to avoid eating at this restaraunt at all costs. If this was the only restaraunt in South Carolina and we were in a famine, I would walk to another state.

  • Pros: Waitress was somewhat friendly

keep walking

by letitfly

There are many good places to eat in the area. This is not one of them. The marinari sauce tasted burnt and was watery. The spinach lasagna was globs of frozen spinach mashed between two noodles, a dab of cheese and some really bad sauce. The salads were fine and the meatballs were fine but for the price, you can do better.

  • Pros: few, actually, none
  • Cons: food was bad
