Good food but very loud!
by thekellyn
We had dinner at Blossom to celebrate our 8th anniversary. Unfortunately, it was too cold to sit outside otherwise we would have, as it looked very intimate/quaint/romantic on their little side patio area.
The service at the bar was great - our bartender suggested items and even had us sample some wine. She was also extremely friendly - always a plus.
Once we were seated in the dining room, service slowed considerably. It was quite loud inside - we could barely hear each other speak. Our server was extremely nice and made great suggestions but disappeared for long periods of time. The main course took quite a bit longer than expected to arrive but it was very tasty. We're big on presentation and weren't impressed at all on that front.
Our food was good but whoever prepared the shrimp didn't do a good job of removing all of the outer shell. There just is no delicate way of removing shrimp shell once it's in your mouth!
The dessert was very good, though - and unique, which we appreciated!
We were very disappointed by the menu selections, though - not really enough of a variety of items. There were 8-10 items on the main course menu and nothing that really jumped out at you...
The dessert menu actually had more variety than the main courses.
This is not a great romantic spot for dinner (at least not in the main dining room) though I'd be willing to check it out again for lunch and see what that's like.
All in all, it was 'ok' but as a whole we were a bit disappointed, being that it was a special occasion...
The food, ambiance, service and noise level are all MUCH better at High Cotton...
- Pros: great bar/bartender, good value, easy access to parking, good food
- Cons: loud, lacked menu variety, no artistic food preparation
Just awful

We were visiting Charleston for a business meeting. We were at Blossom for lunch and ordered the Crab Ravioli. It was chewy and tasteless. We complained to the waitress and she said that that happens sometimes and we just got a bad batch. Eric the manager said too bad for us, it's their signature dish, but the only way to fix it to make it consistently good would be to roll the pasta thiner or in his words "cook the *#@* out of it" Neither offered any compensation. They knowingly serve it when it is bad and charge $15.00 a serving. We went to Cypress (their sister restaurant) for dinner with our group and it was very nice, but Blossom was the worst experience we have had at a restaurant in quite awhile.
- Pros: none
- Cons: Food and service
the atmosphere is as good as the food and the service....

me and my wife and her sister went to blossom recently on a busy saturday night. we did not have a reservation but were told by the hostess that it would only be about ten to fifteen minutes to get a table which we agreed to. We were lucky enough to find a cocktail table in their waiting area and ordered some drinks. No sooner than the girl brought our drinks out the hostess informed us that we could be seated as soon as we would like. As i paid my tab the girls went to the table. Once i got to the table the girls had already decided on appetizers of fried calamari and tuna carpaccio, both of which were out of this world. Most all of my experience with calamari is of the rubberband variety but these were delicious. Then for my main course i had the crab ravioli which was huge and stuffed me to the gills. My wife had the rare tuna over coconut rice and said it was great. Her sister had the salmon and agreed with my wife that it was good as well When all was said and done we were to full to sample any desserts but the table next to us said they were to die for. We can't wait to get back downtown and try out some of their sweet stuff. Our server was right on with his timing of everything and was never pushy Overall i recommend when you're in town stop in Blossom for a real treat. Thankyou Blossom for making a relatives visit to town very memorable.
- Pros: good martini list, good wine list, good food
- Cons: little noisy,
Worst Service & Food I have had in a long time
by 76foodie
Came in for confirmed reservation. We waited almost 20 minutes to be seated.
Sat another 10 minutes before being greated.
Drink order tood 15 minutes to come.
App took atleast 30 minutes. Ordered Calamari and it tasted burnt oil. Waiter kept trying to remove app before we were done.
Entrees were overpriced. Pork chop was overcooked and grits not very good.
Grouper Francaise looked unappetizing and we sent back and order a pizza & tuna capraccio instead. Manager did apologize for the entree sent back and did agree that it was not good.
Did not offer any compensation for the wait or bad entree.
Just all around not good experience.
Go to Cypress or Magnolias which is owned by the same group and I have always had a good experience there.
- Pros: Complimentary Parking, Good drinks
- Cons: Service, Food not up to par

We came here for lunch. We had great food (Wahoo w/ lentils) and great service. The restaurant is beautiful and the waitstaff is the epitome of Southern hospitality.
- Pros: Everything was great!
