THE best food in north charleston

I try not to go there every day for lunch but . . .

1. The best hamburger ever...thick and with a special cheese sauce

2. The best fried fish (fish n'chips). A thick piece of white flaky cod surrounded by a puffy fluffy perfect crust

3. THe most incredible confort food ...an open faced roast beef just like Grandma's only better

4. Yummy handcut fries...I drown mine in malt vineger

5. Handwhipped homemade mashed potatoes

• Cons: crowded, smoky near the bar

Charleston's little secret

Who'd-a-thought that such an authentic-style Irish pub could be in such a hidden area in North Charleston?! I'm so sick of the downtown "Irish" bars where most of the patrons would rather sip on a Miller Light or Cosmo than a fine stout or whiskey. It's about a half hour drive for me to get to the Madra Rua from where I live, but I get out there about every week or so. It's so charming and laid back, the servers are friendly, and there's a good chance you could leave a rugby fan (if you weren't already). The back patio area is a great spot to relax and listen to great music. Ye don't find many watering holes like this anymore!

• Pros: Everything!
• Cons: Nothing!

I've never seen better!

All it will take is one visit to this little pub in North Charleston and I guarantee you will be back time and time again. The staff and atmosphere make it the most enjoyable experience I have ever come across in a pub. They have fabulous live music three times a week and patio for nice weather. The interior is finely decorated with Irish relics and dimly lit in pub tradition. Whether you are on a stool enjoying a smooth guinness or eating dinner at a table with friends this place is perfect!!!

• Pros: incredible staff, well done atmosphere, always a good time

Best Pub in SC

This little pub is the best place there is to sit back and have a drink. The Guinness is served perfectly (this is ensured by the Irish co-owner) and the staff is amazingly friendly. This is the only place in town I can walk into and there's a beer on the bar for me before I even sit down. It's also one of the few places you can sit down a hold a conversation without having to scream over the noise. If your hungry, the food is great!! I've only seen it "crowded" a couple of times and this is just cause its a little place, which is part of the appeal.
