I have gone to this restaurant since I was 10 years old (14 years). I have traveled to 26 states and never tasted a better gyro than at the Continental Corner. I can't speak for any of their other dishes simply because the first thing I ever ordered (Royal Gyro Plate) was so incredibly amazing I didn't think it was possible to top it. The pita bread is fresh pita bread like you will get no where else. The cream sauce is the best I have ever had, I have tried to recreate it and can't. Their gyro meat is as good as it gets. Since I moved away 2 years ago I have been trying to learn to cook greek because I can't find a restaurant that meets my expectations.. Continental Corner set the bar high. ALSO: Their sweet tea is AMAZING.. I did figure out how to make it but don't worry I won't tell. BEST GREEK FOOD!
One of my all-time favorites!!. Wow. Where to even begin? First, I should say that I am in no way affiliated with the owners, but almost feel like part of the family, given that my first visit was as a child (shortly after they opened in November of 1973). Now, I live out-of-state, but eating at Continental Corner is among my absolute favorite parts of every visit home. I sincerely hope it will be there for EVERY visit back and that it is still around after another 38 years, because I simply cannot imagine Summerville without the Continental Corner. I believe the food is not only exceptional and full of flavor (without being too spicy or overbearing), but one of the single best values I've ever found anywhere (and I'm a pilot, currently dining out for over 800 meals per year, so I know what's out there). Everything about the place is quaint and unpretentious - especially the price! I'd call it a "quiet elegance" that I enjoy tremendously. Lunchtime has a very different feel than dinner, so be sure to try them both. To me, you simply cannot beat the Cia plate with chicken, greek-style rice, fruit and a pita. In fact, on my last visit, I enjoyed it so much I had to order an entire second entree...which I ate before leaving! Another mandatory part of every visit is their spiced ice tea. If you like ordinary tea, you simply do not know what you've been missing! As unbelievable as the few negative comments here are to me, I'm actually grateful that not EVERYBODY agrees with me, as this place has been consistently busy during nearly every one of the 200-300 times I've eaten here...and it's often hard enough to find a parking place already! In short, if you have several hundred dollars per meal to spend and you're looking for five-star dining, this is perhaps not the place. But if you are willing to make a few allowances for a small, family-owned restaurant you could enjoy (and afford!) week after week for a lifetime, you will likely be grateful to have found them.
Good taste but cold food.
First time to eat at this restaurant and the food while tasty was served cold and had to be sent back. Parking lot was not marked and hard to find so i had to park on the street and walk to the rear door of the
building. Prices were about what were to be expected. Once again I feel that I got off on the wrong foot do to the meals being served cold. They closed early as in 14:30 and this very web site states 11AM-8:30PM
Editorial Review by Christy Buena. Restaurant serves Mediterranean fare including kebabs and sandwiches for lunch and dinner.
