Best BBQ Buffet In The Area.
The buffet is glorious, but not overwhelming. You don't get too bogged down in choices, but you do have to negotiate with yourself over what will fit on the plate.
And I'm not a fan of buffets. But I really dig this one.
Food seems to be pulled well before it gets overexposed. If the smoked turkey looks a little dry, skip it on your first plate; it will have been replaced with fresh goodness when you start your second round.
The filed peas, beans, etc are all real-deal home cookin'. You'll feel like you're at Grandma's house on easter.
And I can not stress too much how cool it is to have both the Mustard & Vinegar BBQs to choose from/sample between.
Go hungry, get the "all you can eat " option and loosen yer trousers!
The one drawback for me is I like Bessenger's "Carolina Gold" mustard sauce more than Mommas. That's a personal issue that may not effect you.
The best BBQ spread in the South.
The best BBQ around. Hands down. I have been there 3 times and there are different options each time. They have 3 different kinds of BBQ, Chicken 3 ways, and great sides (the hush puppies and corn bread are a meal alone).
If you are looking to eat a LOT of great BBQ this is the place. All you can eat for about $10. The drink lady is the nicest lady in Charleston. And there are lots of nice ladies in Charleston.
Mama Browns. Ok, here is the deal. Mama Browns is about the best CAROLINA bbq ever. Had it everywhere and I hear you on the ketchup based bbq you're used to in the North. Keep rockin' it Mama Brown and continue to destroy yankee's buttholes forever!
Wonderful!. Everything about this place is wonderful...all you can eat buffet of some of the most delicious bbq I have ever eaten!
Down Home Cookin. As Momma herself said, "This place ain't about bein "hoity toity." The atmosphere is functional, nothing to look at. This is all about the food. There was plenty of it and it was all good. We go to the Charleston area every year and Momma Brown's will be on our list of stops from now on.
WOW! Try A&M Brown's in Moncks Corner too!. Brown's barbecue is the best barbecue you will ever eat! The sides are fantastic as well. There are actually 3 restaurants owned by the Brown family. The original is in Kingstree, SC, which is quite a haul from Charleston. Momma Brown's is fantastic and in nearby Mount Pleasant - only a short drive across the bridge from Charleston. BUT - if you have some extra time and are headed out to Cypress Gardens or Mepkin Abbey during your stay (both well worth the drive!) then try A&M Browns in Moncks Corner. Same basic barbecue, but in my opinion, just a little bit better!!! YUMMY!!!
Momma brown's - great!. Great BBQ. All the sites are amazing and the meat is spectacular. Not much else to speak of, it's a little spartin, but it's all about the food. And oh what food.
Not your typical Bar-b-que. Not bad bar-b-que if you like vinegar and mustard flavored meat. When I saw Bar-b-que on the sign I was expecting a southern or Texas style barbeque, that is not it at all. I have never tasted vinegar flavored bar-b-que before, until now. The hushpuppies were really good though. The other side items were really good that is about all I can say.
there is none higher. After eating at Mama Brown's I had to go in the back and hug the cook. It is the best all you can eat barbeque resturant on the planet. Nuf said... get in your car or on a plane and go there.
