Way overpriced for what you get!!!. I used to go to Melvins alot, but will never eat there again. The food is so over priced and the prices continue to escalate. Also, the prices in the menu on the website are not even close to the actual prices. The menu on the website states the price for a grilled chicken sandwich, side item, and drink is $6.50. I went to the restaurant to get the grilled chicken combo and the price was $8.75!!! Also, the Wed. special is a Little Joe sandwich and drink for $4.99 (website). The actual current price is $5.99. They really need to do some updating with the website, but they change their prices so much, it's hard to keep up.

The food is okay, but one thing that's always irritated me is the amount of salt they use on the fries. They are absolutely covered. You literally have to rake it off with a fork. I will NEVER eat there again!!!

#1 Burger in the USA!. Emeril voted Melvin's burger as the #1 burger in America and he's right! The BBQ is excellent as well. Very small place so you have to fight for a seat if you want to sit down inside. They have a drive thru too! Fast service and the place is always clean.

Get the cheeseburger!. One of my friends told me months ago that this was the place to go for a burger, he was soooo right. This burger will not disappoint.

Editorial Review by Christy Buena. Known for its burgers, the barbecue pork and ribs combo is a local favorite at this legendary eatery.

Awesome BBQ. Go there with three friends and get the largest platter you can get and then share. The food is heavy, so get there early and bring a good appetite. Bought the sweet tea by the gallon and almost finished it between the two of us. This is home style cooking with an outdoorsy feel. No waiter service, but that shouldn't bother you. I got the banana pudding and pecan pie and it was fantastic.

Lives up to it's hype for sure. We just moved to the area, and heard that Melvin's was ranked the best BBQ in Charleston and their burgers were ranked #1 in the US by Emeril so we definitely had to see what all the hype was about. It definitely lived up to the hype! The food is so good! The yellow mustard based sauce was new to us, and we will never look at BBQ the same way again. The burger was also very good, and their fries are superb. Great sweet tea too. We have only lived here for about 1 month, and we have been to Melvin's 3 times. It is a definite 'don't miss.'

GOOD BBQ. Great sauce, good food/fair price. If you find yourself West of the Ashley, try another family member's BBQ restaurant -- Bessinger's

good. good but can get a little pricy. The onion rings are usually very good. They are usually HUGE. They went though a time when they were small (very disapointing) but they are back to being BIG. A couple is all you need. The BBQ and greasy cheese burger are also quite good. The yellow BBW sause is a must to try!
