The Scene – Set along the banks of Shem Creek, this rambling seafood shack is a favorite with the locals. The atmosphere is laid-back and friendly, but the biggest draw is the spectacular view. The best tables are on the deck, but if it's rainy or just too hot, the dining room, with its plate-glass windows looking out over the marsh, is a fine alternative. A dockside bar serves drinks and seafood appetizers when the weather's nice. – – The Food – The menu is extensive, but it all boils down to platters of fresh local seafood and a few Lowcountry specialties. Disappointing low country boil ...

by Sunnysis

This meal was the low point of our vacation. We wanted some low country boil and this place was noted as being really good. However, it seemed to be more of a "tourist trap".

The low country boil was disappointing. It was 15 shrimp, a corn on the cob, 2 new potatoes, and 4 sausage pieces. There was no flavor at all.

They served white bread with the meal and it was not even as good was cheap white bread.

The service was fine and the outside dining area appeared nice.

  • Pros: Near water; clean; service acceptable
  • Cons: Food lacked flavor; decor is dated

Bad service for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

by ElFoodie

Long waits for tables seemed the norm, as we sat among other couples at the bar for what seemed an eternity. Decent bloody mary and fried oysters, but the softshell crab was VERY expensive and VERY cold by the time we were served. Not worth the hastle or the price.

  • Pros: decent drinks
  • Cons: long waits and overpriced mediocre food

It was a big disappointment.

We were expecting a great seafood dinner with all fresh seafood, it was no better than what you get from the supermarket freezer. I have had fresh fish in Baltimore, Boston and Phila and this wasn't even close. Its atourist trap, all hype and no substance. Frozen and soggy is not fresh. Avoid it.
