Tips for Custom Car Stereo

April 20, 2013

I recently had my windows tinted here because I heard they used Formula One film which carries a nationwide lifetime warranty. I thought it was going to be way more expensive but come to find out after pricing some other places, they actually are one of the cheapest. So now a little skeptical I still book the appointment because of the price and product. They were the nicest people to deal with, the service was excellent, and my car looked amazing. I would definitely recommend Custom Car Stereo.

They will rip you off if you let them. I set an appointment on a monday to have my windows tinted on saturday. At 5pm on the friday before my appointment i get a call from Christopher. He says that the charge will be 50$ more than what i was quoted(og. 199$) because of windows that they didnt account for when they quoted the price. I told him i would call him back to verify the appointment. Within 10 minutes he called me again to offer me a coupon worth 25$ off, so i would only get charged 25 more than they quoted (why didnt they already apply this before calling initially?) but i told him i would still call back. I contact Norton Car Stereo and told them what happened, they offered to tint all windows for 179.00$. I called Christopher back and told him the price they offered, he offered to apply a tint that he previously told me would turn purple and bubble up for the price Norton was offering, i told him to just cancel my appointment, he hung up with me and called RIGHT back to offer it at 175.00 for the tint i was supposed to get in the first place. But at this point i figured if they could offer it for less than what they quoted in the first place, why did he even bother to call me to tell me to tell me it was an extra 50$. So because they were so grimy, i refuse to do business with them and i was lucky enough to be able to make an appointment at Pleasant Details which has better reviews, is offering the same tint i was originally supposed to get with custom car stereo for less than what they originally offered. So long story short, instead of ripping me off for 50$ they lost out on any money from me completely.

Custom Car is an honest company. I had a problem with my stereo and went to a few places inquiring. The dealer told me the factory amp was bad. Not thinking I relayed the info to the unsaid other car audio shop and they quoted me a price that involved replacing the entire system....over a thousand bucks. I still wasn't sure what was wrong. I called Custom Car and explained the dealer said the amp was bad and probably needed replacing.......he laughed and asked what they wanted to replace it.....and then laughed again when I told him. He said, "Im sure you gotten quotes from other car audio shops, right?" I said yes. Then he asked what they quoted me on 4 new speakers. Puzzled I said but my amps bad. My vehicle has a know problem for bad speakers. They saved me over $600 and only fixed what I need fixed. Thanks Custom Car!

Custom Car Stereo's owner is stuck up and useless, boasting about his products that do not effectively match the company's poor service. All I wanted was an ipod adapter for my car, so that I did not have to hear the shitty sound of the radio. Claiming they are unable to install an aux cord, they installed an FM Modulator instead. From the moment I first heard the sound (with the rude owner sitting in my backseat), I immediately HATED the sound for the $240 price tag. The owner blamed it on the recording quality on my ipod (I use the least compression iTunes allows). Had they not drilled a hole in my console, I would have told them to remove it and refund me my money. But the hole was there and the shitty damage was done. Stunned, I thought "how is this any different than me buying a Monster ipod radio adapter for $25?...well this should at least outlive my previous adapters". No such thing. By the second month of use with his amazing product, the cord stopped charging my ipod (really annoying for long road trips). I thought oh well, at least I still have half decent sound. By the third month, the cable frayed and the sound is now similar to a distant fairy singing with zero instrumentals behind it. I finally drove back to Custom Car Stereos, with the hope that they would be able to replace it. Not only was I blamed for my poor quality of music, but now the owner is blaming me for damage to a cord that has barely been used because it never worked to begin with. I highly suggest never doing business with Custom Car Stereos.

great store. i have been looking around at other stero shops in the charleston area. most that i have looked a thave carryed questionable products or have looked and acted very unprofessional. i stoped in at custom car stereo on day and was amazed by there show room. the store its self was neat and clean, the salesmen were very helpfull and knowledgeable and there where tecs on hand to get the job done fast. a few hours later i was set up with a new head unit and speakers in my car. i was amazed at the speed and quality of the install. it was also great to know that everything comes with a warrenty as well! something i didnt expect is that they do tones of other things besides stereos. they do leather working, rims, hid lights, if there is something you need for your car they can mostly likely do it. the guys in the shop are amazing. over all it was a great expernce and i intend to return to them for any needs for my car.

Great service & I love my new Navigation system!. I was referred to Custom Car by the dealership I bought my Tahoe from, as well as a few buddies that have used them for truck and boat audio upgrades. They were very friendly and helped me make the right decision on a navigation system. Their work was flawless and they walked me through the funtions of the system when it was ready & answered all my questions. I am very please with this product and with my overall experience here. I absolutely recommend using Custom Car Stereo...especially compared to our other local options!

Happy Customer. I went in the store with no idea exactly what technology was out today since I had not bought any stereo equipment in over ten years. The salesman walked me through all I needed to know to build a great package for my car. Pricing was reasonable considering I am also an internet shopper. The installers were knowledgable. One of them walked out to my car to show me the best locations for speakers, tv's, and subwoofer. He even went over how he would run the wiring and why. Very detailed! The installer even stayed late to finish my car because I needed to head out of town and could not leave it overnight or return the next day. From the salesmen to the installers, first class all the way.

INCREDABILE!!!. At first I was hesitant to go to Custom Car, everyone I had asked about the place said they were the most expensive shop in town. I was impressed when I walked in the door and saw their showroom, it was awesome! I was interested in a Navigation package for my SUV I got a price quote, it sounded good but I was sure I saw it cheaper online. They were concerned with my findings and asked if I could show them where I saw it online. I was amazed when they told me that they would work with me on the price. I had the installation done 2 days later when I could drop the car off. I received a call a few hours later they told me my car was almost complete and offered me a discount on tinting my 2 front windows to match the rest of my car. I had not considered it before but after hearing the price and all the benefits of the film I was sold. My wife and I picked up the car, the first thing she said to me when we pulled up into the parking lot was "I really like how that tint looks". Bottom line the installation was perfect, my salesman was knowledgeable and polite. The price was less than I originally thought it was gonna be, I would certainly go back and I will continue to recommend them to anyone who asks. A+++

Very helpfull. When I went in to Custom Car I thought I needed a new stereo for my car. The guys where familiar with my car and told me that it had it also had an amplifier that would more than likely the problem. I wanted to keep my factory stereo so they replaced the amplifier and my car was fixed! Very helpful and kind!

Good Experiance. I had a good experiance with custom car stereo. The sales guy gave me several options on the speakers I needed for my car, let me hear them and then worked with me on the price so I could get a new radio too. They had the cleanest, and best looking store i went to also.
