Noisy Oyster was a ripoff. We decided to go out for a nice dinner and wanted to have some seafood, so we tried The Noisy Oyster and it was an idea that I wouldn't recommend to anyone else! The crab dip was served with crackers, and it was mediocre. I ordered the grilled Mahi Mahi, which was less than a 6 oz serving with a very, very small side of rice. That was it. I left hungry, even after an appetizer, and at $18 an entree, it was a real ripoff! The waitress was slow, and she didn't seem to care how I felt. Another friend in our group ordered a chicken breast, which was also a small serving with a small side of green beans and he was still hungry also. Long wait between seeing the waitress. Uh, the chairs were comfortable. That's the only positive thing I can say.
Worst experience ever!.
From beginning to end, the Noisy Oyster in North Charleston was completely awful. When we arrived we requested non-smoking because we had a pregnant woman in our group. They sat us in non-smoking BUT the smoking section began at the table next to us where five customers were lighting up. The waitress seemed unconcerned and told us the other table should be leaving soon. We moved our pregnant friend to the end of the table and hoped for the best.
Two of us ordered their "famous" she crab soup and that was a huge mistake. It was more like a gumbo than the silky smooth soup we are used to. There were chunks of crab shell all in it. We only had five spoon fulls and sent it back. We also ordered the oyster sampler as an appetizer, and that was over cooked and the oysters were too rubbery because of this mistake. The salads were ok, but nothing fantastic.
When our meal arrived, one of our orders was completely incorrect and the waitress wasn't interested in fixing it. A special order was ignored and all the fish was tasteless. The oysters I ordered were not steamed correctly and were very difficult to open. Everyone's french fries were cold and tasted like they had been cooked hours earlier and placed under a heat lamp.
The waitress wasn't terrible, just marginal and the management was not concerned with any of our suggestions.
Just when we thought the terrible experience was over, we got home only to realize that the restaurant had double charged our credit cards. When we called to ask them to remove one of the charges, we were told it was the bank's fault, although none of us bank in the same place. They are totally uninterested in providing good service and the food was terrible. Not one of us (out of five) enjoyed our meal. I suggest talking to the locals in Charleston if you're visiting to find out where to get good sea food. Avoid this restaurant at all costs! The one downtown may be better, but this location is the worst!
Best seafood in Charleston? Possibly.... We had to eat seafood while visiting Charleston. We ate a lot of the different places downtown. While leaving, we decided to try one more restaurant and it was worth it! They had the best flounder ever!
