The Scene – Housed in a rehabbed barbershop in a quiet residential neighborhood, Hominy Grill has become a cult favorite with Charleston foodies. Quintessential Charleston Restaurant

Hominy Grill has it all... great food, great atmosphere, great prices and a friendly staff. HG is off the beaten path which makes it feel more "small town" than tourist attraction like restaurants on Market/King/Broad. The food is an excellent, the banana /pumpkin bread is delicious and the biscuits and gravy was a nice departure from the normal. The coffee was better than you get at Starbucks and had a nice bold, rich flavor. Not normally a grits fan...I ate them without adding a single thing and I didn’t leave a single hominy in the cup! The staff was also friendly and completed the total dining experience. All this for the same/less than you would pay at an IHOP or Cracker Barrel. When I think of Charleston breakfast, Hominy Grill is the first on my list!
- Pros: Perfect Southern Breakfast
- Cons: None

I have only been here for breakfast but, the food is pretty good. You can choose from eggs to pancakes. Recommended by many locals. Get there early!
- Pros: A Charleston Gem.
