Avoid Like the Plague !.
I vacationed in Charleston, SC and on my last night had the unfortunate experience of stopping by Wet Willie's for a drink. The bar itself was extremely noisy and none too clean. There were lots of very intoxicated young people, some that could barely stand and this was before 10:00pm. For some reason the waiters were taking away the chairs, so you had no where to sit.
I had never been to a bar that consisted of giant slurpy machines full of different colored frozen concoctions so I asked the "bartender" about a particular flavor. He was arrogant to the point of rudeness.I use the term "bartender" with reservations because there is no skill involved in the preparation of the drinks.
The drinks are vile,I gather the purpose is to drink them rapidly until one is so drunk they can no longer taste. The environment of the bar is' frat house immature" and the service is as bad as I have ever experienced.
Needless to say, I would advise anyone to avoid Wet Willie's in downtown Charleston like the plague. Actually the one star rating is generous.
Great time for a Strong Daiquiri...great live music.
I visited Wet Willie's totally by accident last Sat around 4:30pm for a Happy Hour drink. We were walking by and decided to step in for a quick one. I would categorize the scene mainly as dive bar that seems to turn into a dance club at night (since we didn't stay too late).
As I've never been here I wasn't really sure what to order since I'm not a fruity drink kind of guy. I had a drink callled "Attitude Adjustment" from a recommendation by the guy next to me at the bar, which is pretty self-explanatory...heavy on the booze and light on the fruity...perfect! Be cautious if you don't like your drinks too strong b/c my girlfriend almost gagged when she tried mine (cant remember what she had).
What made this most enjoyable was the live music, I think the guy name was JamiSun. Probably some of the best acoustic I've heard...he really got the mood of the bar going.
I only give 3 stars b/c this def wouldn’t be my first choice out of all the bars I've visited in Charleston. Also, I got pretty sick of the drinks after 2. I would however, def recommend the Attitude Adjustment to get your night going FAST! Just be cautious...it will end FAST if you're not carefull.
Fun place to hang out.
Great selection of drinks. Bar staff was very nice as was the wait staff at the tables. This is a popular spot, gets very busy at night. I recommend this place for a nice night out on the town.
Be cautious here....
I am a regular on the Charleston Club scene and I would be cautious here, went here for a girls night out and all four of us got robbed even though there are police out front. Also got offered blank in the bathroom and we have been back since then just to check it out again and it's still the same. The drinks are great, but the crowd is not worth it.

One of the first bars I hit back when I turned 21! These drinks put you on your ass! A great place to go dance and hang out! It's always been crowded everytime I've gone, but service there is great!
Wet Willie's is no fun.
Wet Willie's used to be fun when we were underage. Now it is filled with rednecks and old people visiting town. The only thing good about it is that the drinks can really kick off a good night! Use it for pre-partying before you head to the good bars.
