Tips for Kaminsky's Most Excellent Cafe

Don't waste your time and money. After reading positive reviews we decided to make this our dessert stop after a great day of touring Charleston. We arrived around 8:30 to be only the third group of patrons. The service was very slow as the server was too busy talking with another table to bother with us for nearly ten minutes. Finally we ordered and received our dessert. I am sad to say it was horrible! The pecan pie had very little taste and was covered with whipped cream. We also had a brownie sundae, which again was covered in whipped cream. The brownie was dry and lacked taste. They seem to feel the need to cover up lack luster taste with enough whipped creme to start a whipped creme factory. The music was so loud we could not hold a conversation, and by the time we tried to pay the check the place was packed and the service was even slower.

Long and short is, this is a nice place, but the food and service are anything but good. There are too many other places in Charleston. Don't waste your time and money.

Most Excellent. I usually prefer to make my own dessert as opposed to buying them, but Kaminsky's is my one exception. As opposed to a lot of "bakeries", where a pie or cake sits in the display for a day or more before it is bought, all of the desserts at Kaminsky's are made fresh daily. Its a cozy, dimly lit environment, conducive to a date or small party. Their drinks are also excellent. After my friend's birthday dinner, we stopped by for some of the best chocolate martinis I've ever had. Kudos all around.

Late night dessert spot. We went here for an evening dessert. We arrived around 9 PM and waited for 15 minutes for our table. The place was packed; it isn't very large. They was a wide selection of cakes and pies. I ordered the chocolate toll house pie which was killer. My husand and daugher ordered chocolate cake, each with a different icing. The cakes were average. The cofffed and hot chocolate were good but the service was a bit slow. The server was very friendly
