What in the world just happened?!. So we just left cafe cafe and I'm pretty sure we witnessed a drug transaction between the wait staff and a customer. Our waiter was oviously high. We sat there for over forty-five minutes. All we ordered was tuna and some yogurt. they did however bring us other peoples food. We just left money for the drinks and peaced out. Terrible.
Great place for Breakfast and right price. I was visiting Charleston in October first week for a pleasure trip. I was searching on the web for a good place for breakfast and I found Cafe Cafe. I went there for the breakfast and it was my best experience during entire stay in Charleston. The staff was very nice and cooperative. Food service was very quick and I was really impressed with the quality of food. While many places are very expensive in down town Charleston, I fond Cafe Cafe very reasonable in price. The overall atmosphere was very pleasant. Overall, my experience was very good and I will visit again this place if I go to Charleston.
Not What We Thought..... I'm really sorry but I did not enjoy this place at all. My boyfriend and I visited Charleston for the first time and we were so impressed! Loved the city! Though, on our last day we decided to get breakfast at either Diane's or Cafe Cafe. I was in the mood for something a bit more Mediterranean, so we decided on Cafe Cafe. I was regretting my decision the moment I walked in the door. The only available tables were all dirty, so we asked the server for a table. Which she then cleaned one off. The music that they had playing also surprised me for 10AM. Not only was it playing especially loud, but they started off with "Apple Bottom Jeans" and finished with "Get Low" by Lil Jon. With all other loud rap songs played in between (nothing wrong with it on the dance floor, just don't feel like hearing it blaring at breakfast). The service was not good. After we sat down, we were wondering when someone was going to come over to our table. After we ordered, we got our coffee but never received our appetizer. So I asked her about it and all she said was 'yes' then she brought it out with our main meal. So she must have forgotten. Then my meal was made incorrectly, and she forgot to bring me all of what I ordered. Then we waited forever for our check, so I needed to approach the counter to ask for it. I also see why many restaurants call for a specific dress code. In regard to our meals, my boyfriend said his meal was really good (he got some sort of french toast dish) and I got a sandwich. It was ok, not bad, but decent I guess. In all honesty, it wasn't the food. The coffee I had was even delicious! It was just a very uncomfortable atmosphere. It was just not our scene, I guess. I read a review from somewhere else how poor the atmosphere was, but now I know what their talking about. If you want something more comfortable and relaxed, I would suggest somewhere else.
