A lowcountry Must. Take a quick stroll from the tourist-laden maket street to dine in an old-fashioned lowcountry atmosphere. The furnishings and decor are fun and casual, the wait staff was timely and courteous. Their menu features many lowcountry favorites, my mouth waters just thinking about the coca-cola cake.

A must when in Charleston.

Jestine's Food. The folks at Jestine's were very nice and friendly with a great down home attitude. I am not sure if the first rating went through but I have to disagree with the "unhappy" customer who said the folks were rude. Maybe it was their attitude. Coca Cola Cake, Sweet Tea and the seafood combination and the fried chicken with a pecan toping was out of this world. I would go back to Jestine's just to try some more of the receipes. Very sweet people. OBXROD

Great Southern Food. As a native Charlestonian for 20 years, I've come across this restaurant after seeing it on a FoodNetwork show called "$40 a day." I must say that it was definitely a treat to have a good southern lunch here. The only thing though, there was quite a wait time, about 20-mins, however, once inside, everything went great. I had the catfish/mashed potatoes plate (was one of 3 specials for the day) and it was totally tasteful - very good. The cornbread was a bit dry, but it was a nice touch that there was honey on the butter served alongside it. Also, the sweet iced tea is amazing! I'm not big on tea, however, this one will truly be the best glass of tea ever had. I'd definitely go again, but be careful from peak times (1200-1300 lunch rushes and probably weekend dinners).

like your mama used to make. The food pawned here is not haute cuisine - go here if you want some down home southern favorites that would make your moma proud and your stomach happy.

Don't Go There. Waited in line over 20 minutes for rude service by the manager no less - what a joke. We have been coming to Charleston for many years and this restaurant certainly is NOT a good representation of all the charm that Charleston has to offer. Not only would I not recommend this establishment to my friends, I would not send my worst enemy either.
