Tips for Tommy Condon's Irish Pub

July 16, 2012

Great place to grab a drink! I would recommend going on a night early in the week...we went on a Tuesday and it was fabulous, went back on a Thursday night and it was full of bachelorette parties, etc....if you aren't bothered by that sort of thing, it's great any night.

Will definately go back!. I have recommended this restaurant to friends. I enjoyed everything. We had an excellent waitress! The food was good, and the price was very reasonable! At 9 a couple of guys play and sing folk style music. They're funny. My fiance and I had a nice, relaxing evening.

Good Food at Tommy Condons. I travel to Charleston two or three times a year, Each time I make time to go to this place. The food is always good, the servers were timely and efficient. sounds like people with complaints of bad service either do not know good service or have an axe to grind. There are certain places I return to each time when in Charleston, I return to them because of good food, good service and fair price. By the way, try the bread pudding, its to die for.

"Real" Irish --- I think not. Really the only thing I can say to recommend this place is that their potato soup is the best I've had in Charleston. It's also worth seeing the bands in the evenings, and a very social bar to hang out at. That said, anything other than the Irish food on the menu is terrible, the service is fairly slow, and the crowds make it difficult to carry on a conversation over your meal.

Terrible service.. Went here with a Charleston native who insisted we experience the best Irish bar in Charleston. Yeah right. After relocating outside because the bar smelled BAD - like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time - our server pretty much ignored us when he realized we were only here to drink beer. We would have ordered some food but they had run out of bread pudding. I tried to order a Crown Float (Guiness & Cider) but was told that they had also run out of cider so I asked for Guiness & Champagne which is a comparable drink but then was told that the drink would cost too much because they would have to open a bottle of champagne - how's that for customer service?! Then my friend had to wait 15 minutes for a refill on his drink - and even then the bartender not the server dropped it off - presumably since he got tired of looking at the drink on his service bar! Please go somewhere else - this place is sorry.

Beer okay - food stinks.. Okay...not like the food from the British Isles is known to be good and this is a great example of just that. I suppose I made the mistake of ordering the Carolina Gold BBQ sandwich. Not good and I really like Carolina-Style BBQ as I'm from South Carolina. Had the consistency of a tuna fish sandwich with too much mayonnaise. The fries were overcooked as well.

Service was mediocre at best. There was barely any ketchup in the ketchup bottle on the table. I asked the food runner to bring some more, but she never came back. When the hostess tried to seat us, she didn't even bother to ask us if we wanted to sit inside or outside. It is a nice scene (as there are quite a few tables outside), but I suggest you stick with the beer and don't bother eating the food. I won't go back unless it's purely for alcohol.

Great customer service. Ok, so it's Irish and not southern (I was in the mood for fried chicken), but it was good none the less. The staff was very accomodating and the view was great! Everyone enjoyed the food and some libations. Also a very kid friendly place.
