I have been pleased overall with Suburbans Disposal Service. I have been using this company for a little over 7 years. I am really surprised to see all of the negative comments. They have picked up our garbage as agreed. The only time our garbage is not picked up on our scheduled day is if there is a holiday that is observed that week and then the garbage will be picked up one day later. Other than that if my garbage is not picked up then I am signing in online to make sure I didn't forget to pay the bill. I have forgotten to pay the bill on 2 occassions and my garbage was not picked up. So I payed the bill called them and they were nice enough to send the truck back out the next day to get the trash.
I have noticed the sneaky climb of their rates. No month is the same. When they add $6-$7 to your bill, it is for "fuel surcharge" or something else. I have changed to a company in Harleyville called Waste Pro. They pick up in my area on Thurs. They only cost $38.00 per quarter, vs. now $64.00 from Suburban. That is quite a savings over a year. They have all the services that Suburban does. My neighbors are going to change once their contracts are up. Suburban still has not picked up their can after two weeks. I"m taking it to the dump, as it is full, and won't bring that stinky thing back, believe me. Their number is 619-0800, and you get a human on the other end.
Now under the name of Republic. Took my money, but never delivered a container. Switching to another company and trying to get my money back.
This place is pathetic, AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. From days where they just don't show (I don't know how many times I've heard the "the truck broke down" excuse!) to them throwing my recycling in with the regular trash, to them constantly RAISING MY BILL. Use another company, any company. I quit them and take my own trash in town to the local dropoff rather than waste any more time or money with these crooks!
Since one star is the lowest option I had to give one star, but they really don't even deserve that. I wish I would give a zero! Terrible customer service, terrible collection practices and terrible on time collection. We also have recycling and yard waste collection through Suburban and they can't manage that either. There hasn't been a week in over a year that they have actually picked up on the scheduled collection day. After calling a few days they'll come pick it up; however, half the time they spill it so there's a mess left for me to clean up. We are switching to Priority One as soon as our service is up at the end of June! Don't use Suburban!!!
Terrible! – They purchased the company that used to pick up our trash and they did not come for 14 days. They are completely inept.
Recycling is not important to these guys. – I have tried 4 or 5 times to recycle my recyclables. I recycle the correct items on the correct days. They only picked it up the first time. After several calls and no pick ups on the other times I have given up. I want to be eco-friendly, but it's hard to when your supposed recycling company won't pick up the stuff. I have 3 small kids and don't have the time or resources to personally drive the recyclables to the recycle center. Suburban Disposal has to fire the lazy guys and hire better ones.
Might As Well Head To The Dump Yourself – If you try this service for the first time, don't sign up for bank draft option. I was overcharged, and it took so long to get the extra payment they took refunded, and once they have your money, they keep it, even if you call unsatisfied with a serious complaint or occurrence, they won't do refunds. It took them nearly 3 months to get my trash can out to me, and I was still charged, they are late, but when you call it's everyone's problem but theirs, they leave your trashcan in the road sometimes, when a car hits it, you have a busted mess. It has the ability to be a decent company since every route has different workers, just beware and give it a few months to see if you are satisfied.
I just really want my trash to be picked up. – Holy cow. I have been with this company for 2 weeks. Last week, Suburban emptied everyone else's big trash can, but left mine full. I called the company at noon, and they indeed came back to empty it. This week, they missed my lawn trash and my bulk trash. I called at noon, and the lady said that they would come back out. At 4:30, everything was still where I left it, so I called again. This lady left a message for dispatch. Does this mean that I get to pay for trash service AND drive 11 miles to the local dump? Oh goody!
Many Problems – I spent about an hour wiring up all the problems that have occurred over the last 12 years with Suburban, but when I tried to post the write up on "City Search" it stated that I was limited to 2,000 characters. I checked on MS Word and my write up has 4050 characters.
I then tried to do multiple posts, but to no avail.
