ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. THIS WAS THE BEST DINNER MY FAMILY AND I HAVE HAD IN CHARLESTON. WE ARE LOCALS AND EAT EVERYWHERE BUT OAK IS DEFINETLY OUR FAVORITE. THIS IS A MUST IF YOU ARE VISITING OR LIVE IN CHARLESTON.
Best Meal I've Ever Had. My girlfriend and I recently ate dinner at Oak Steakhouse and were absolutely blown away by the service, food and ambiance. We were greeted at the door by the general manager Michael. He showed us to our table where our server took it from there. I had the cajun new york strip. All I can say is amazing! My girlfriend had the tuna and she still is talking about it. Michael made sure to stop by and check on us throughout the evening. We have eaten all over the world and Oak beats them all. We now live in Charleston so we will be regulars at Oak.
Not worth the pricey menu. Unfortunately, I treated my husband to a birthday dinner there and we were both disappointed in the taste of our meals. His filet was bland and my lobster macaroni was fair. We have traveled quite a bit and have eaten at many fine restaurants locally and abroad but this one didn't impress us. Especially at the costly ending of the meal. The service was good and the ambiance quite nice. However, I prefer the chain steakhouse filet to theirs. Dessert was average as well. The bread was quite tasty but that is not enough to lure me back.
WARNING! This looks like a highend steakhouse.. This place is a joke. It is all advertising and is way over priced. I love highend steakhouses and there are some really good ones in Charleston for the same price range. I had not tried this one so my wife and I called a week ahead of time to make a reservartion for a private booth or something with some private atmosphere. They jammed us in a corner side by side with four other two tops behind where the waiters gather to get the food out. Not even close to being what we requested. The hostesses were so clueless when I tried to tell them what I wanted that I felt like I was in foreign country and didn't know the language. They never moved us. I was assuming the food would be good because it has your typical highend steakhouse prices. The food is below average for these type places. I have been to alot of these type steakhouses all over the country and this one just wants to look highend. Their advertising and pricing is as close as they get. Don't waste your money.
NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE, I WILL NOT RETURN.. Forced to wait outside in the cold or go to the bar. I went to the bar and it took way to long to get a drink that was prepared by a very inexperienced bartender. When we were finally seated the server was slow and acted like they were on druugs. Actually when I was in the bathroom, I thought that two of the servers were in there using coke. The food was good, but not worth the price. Wine was good. The service was the worst. When I told the manager Michael about my problem; he, in a drunken state, told me that if I did not like the service that I should never come back into the restaurant. After spending over $300 in a restaurant, I think that you should deserve a little respect and a lot of service. I will never return to give them any more business. If you want to pay an overpriced amount to get treated like a bum then Oak Steakhouse is the place for you
