Name is deceiving - this is NOT an "ER" vet!!. Our vet closed 10 min prior to Fri PM accident & closed Sat - Easter weekend; FORCED on this ?vet?. Dog admitted @ 6:15p w/paralysis in hind legs ? Mark McKenzie didn't see us until 7 - "1st come 1st served" NOT by medical condition. Mark NOT surgeon = unable to perform necessary test (mylegram) to determine if surgery needed. Mark told us on-call surgeon Lori Ludwig would do @ 8 next AM (Lori REFUSED to come in or talk to me & when questioned waiting (time of the essence w/spinal cord injury; recovery greater if done w/in 1st 12hrs after accident) Lori told Mark to tell me ?she is board certified & not me?). Called @ 9:10A for results - test not done = Lori NOT in yet! Immediately called other vets & JA SPCA ? ALL advised her actions unacceptable & expressed shock over wait! JA SPCA advised me to call director of N Chuck office & inform of situation. Adrianne Sprovero then called to recant Mark?s conversation w/me ? Lori would not perform test until she saw dog even though Mark saw the dog and gave her a full report and previously to me this test would be done at 8A Sat. 10A Lori finally called; finally performing test 15 hrs after accident! While test was completed; it was never read by radiologist thus her findings could easily be inaccurate. One vet told us Lori known for her Northeast arrogance; ticked off many other parents & even though I have never been to this other local vet ? it was he & not the people we pd $2k to that gave us a cell phone # if we had any questions over the holiday weekend ? plz remember she refused to talk to me and walk me through our concerns. Lori left for the day/weekend w/out so much as a phone call or to relay follow up care for our partially paralyzed dog ? nothing about how to combat bed sores, options for physical therapy ? nothing except a bill for $2k!
