They don't deserveTheStar below(onlyway to publish). DO NOT GO HERE!! I took my son here twice when he was sick with a stomach virus. The doctor told me to give him some drink called BANa and not to feed him or give him sugar for 24 hrs. I followed his directions and later that night he became very lethargic and his mouth and skin was very dry. I knew he had to be dehydrated so I took him back there and they tried but failed to hook him up to an IV, since it was closing time for them, they pushed uus out the door and said he probably ddnt need to go to the hospital just take him to doctor in morning. I took him to trident and he turned out to be extremely dehydrated and unresponsive and his sugar was very low! If I would have listened to that doctor and just took him home, he would have had serious damage to his organs. also, if i would not have listened to that doctor and gave him the pedialite instead, this would probably not have happend
Great for short-term, bad follow-through.
First off, let me say that Henry Spradlin is the best thing this practice has going for it. He's a great guy; he's good at what he does; and he treats you as an intellictual equal.
However, the rest of the staff is only interested in doing what they have to do get by, to get you in and out of the office. They say that will serve patients as a general practitioner, but they will not do all the things that a general practitioner would normally do.
After three years on a necessary prescription, there was a change in my insurance. Although the prescription did not fall under those covered, they would have allowed continued use with a call from the physician. I called Health First for help-- since they are the physicians that wrote the prescription the last two times-- only to be told that they "don't do prior authorizations."
Apparently the assurance of my well-being is out-weighed by their willingness to spend a few minutes of their time verifying their own work to my new insurance company. To top it off, they would not call the pharmacy to authorize one of the prescriptions that would be covered. I had to go in and pay for a visit that I didn't technically need.
I have never asked anything "extra" from them, but I have referred many people to them. That is one mistake I will not make again. There are too many other options in health care for me to waste my time and money with a group who does not truly value my well-being .
Great doctors, especially Dr. Machada.
Health First has really gone out of their way for me and my family. Several years ago I went to HF when half of my face had suddenly been paralyzed. I was triaged immediately and saw a doctor within less than 15 minutes, even though it turns out I had Bells Palsy, a fairly minor condition that usually goes away by itself. I can't imagine that at any other urgent care facility. At the one I used to go to, they didn't even bother to triage and I would have still been waiting 2 hours later.
I also use HF for primary care. After the ENT and allergy doctor couldn't be bothered to help my husband with his allergies after allergy shots had failed, Dr. Machado kept working with him until a combination of medicines was found that made him healthy. My only regret is that Doctor Todd left so that I have to send my newborn elsewhere for pediatric care.
As for the "Christian Rock" the last reviewer talked about, as my Indian and Hindu friend says, almost anytime you go to a Hindu business there is Hindu religious music playing. Most of us don't understand Indian Languages so we don't mention. It is a private business so it is there business what they play, and HF is obviously in high demand or they wouldn't have opened a second facility in Summerville
Highly mixed feelings. We went to treat one thing and they pretty much dismissed the issue which was serious enough to seek treatment for. They wanted to treat something else minor they found that wouldn't make a lot of sense to be related. We had serious reactions to prescribed meds and their response was "I don't know", simply told us to stop taking it and gave a few shots to stop very serious reactions - which led to even more serious reactions that put us in the ER. No follow up appointment was scheduled. We were just sent on our way. You should be aware it is a "faith based clinic" with blaring Christian rock in each room. Why do you have to make it religious to do Good Works. Aren't Good Works alone more that enough? Not recommended. Unless you are on a budget and must risk you health for affordable doctors care.
