Used to be a regular .... But never again !!!!!!!. Used to be a regular hangout, great servers, food, drinks and atmosphere. The last few months we have noticed a serious slide in quality. Its a small place and I think theres some serious drama between employees and it rubs off on the customers. I brought this to the attention of the Mgr, he said he put an end to it but it still continues. We will not be going there anymore, and we are not alone. I am also not a fan of employees drinking on duty, which many do there, it has a tendancy to screw the bill up There are much better places in Summerville to frequent. The constant Summerville cops cruising the parking lot make it a little uneasy as well, I think they target it being 2 bars in the bldg, have seen some people get nailed just pulling out of the parking lot.

Can I Bring a Duck?. The folks in the kitchen do a good job. IMHO, they're a step above the run of the mill pub fare. Drink prices are a little higher than comparable establishments in the area, but that's offset by having an outdoor area to enjoy the weather and escape the cigarette smoke. People do bring dogs, and I've seen them on the tables and the outside bar. Pretty disgusting people...leave them home to watch the goldfish.

I've been a regular patron since the place opened. I've never been treated badly by any of the staff. In fact, I think they're a pretty good bunch, just trying to make a living and carrying out the mandates of management. Don't use them as cannon fodder in the parking fracas.

Park in available parking spots, or take your business elsewhere. Pretty simple.

BTW...I'm a combat veteran and a Harley rider.

Vets always welcome.. I'm a vet and a long time patron of the D&D, both in Summerville and Mt. Pleasant. I don't ride a bike and have NO objection to those who do. Anybody who would use the "Vet" card to complain about the D&D is way off base. Many of the D&Ds customers are vets. I doubt anybody knows when you walk in whether you're a vet or not. If you park in a fire lane and break the law, I'm sure that is obvious. Sounds like a bunch of whiney folks who belong on tricycles are complaining about not be given special privileges. These are the probably the same folks who bitched about Robert Ford parking in a fire lane, but then again, he's black.

Bikers Beware, Avoid This Establishment, Not Biker Friendly!. This was my first visit to the Dog and Duck and the staff was rude, unfriendly, and quick to jump to conclusions. Parking was not an issue to me as I park in a normal space. Nevertheless, I understand that the norm was to park in the fire lane as most biker friendly establishments allow and local law overlook. The problem here is the staff not being honest and not treating their customers appropriately. Which is the problem, is it the laws of parking or the fact of the noise the bikes make? I think that all bikers should follow their request and take a legally marked spot, one bike, one parking space and go directly to the Mexican restaurant directly across the parking lot. They will more than appreciate your business. You have lost my money and I will continue to spread the word to all I know and the internet.

Lowcountry's Rudest Business. After hearing about the service(?) provided by this establishment, I felt the need to comment. I am appalled that a public business, in this day and age, would treat their customers as rudely as this one does. It reminds of the treatment recieved during the Vietnam era. Anyplace that would treat veterans as this place has deserves bankruptcy in my opinion. I am retired military, a Vietnam veteran, a motorcyle rider, and a citizen, that expects "no" special treatment, just decent and respectful treatment. What I have seen and heard of this place, you get neither if you are from a certain echelon. If they want to be a "family" place, they don't act like it, since all of the ones mentioned; veterans, bike riders, military and citizens; all have families. My recommendation to anyone is to stay as far away from this place as humanly possible.

Veterans/Bikers Beware!!. This is not the first time the Dog and Duck has treated their customers rudely. Apparently, the Dog and Duck is doing so well in this bad economy, they can afford to treat customers like dirt. This tri-county area, is not only packed with bikers, but also veterans. If you are either one, both, or just a patriot, there are 100's of local restaurants/bars that would love the opportunity to earn your business. I don't expect to be treated better because I'm a veteran, but I sure don't expect to be treat worse! 99% of bikers are law-biding, family oriented, and extremely patriotic folks. Sounds like the kind of customers I would want in my establishment, how about you?

Dog & Duck doesn't seem to like bikers or vets. I am a member of a Veterans motorcycle club. I made the mistake of riding to the Dog and Duck this evening to meet several other members. We all rode motorcycles, and were clearly identified. I wish I could say that the staff was courteous and professional but they weren't. Within two minutes of my arrival our group was confronted by an arrogant and rude waiter and manager, both of whom seemed to be looking for an excuse to be offended by our presence. Word has it that they are trying to change their image to a "family bar". Maybe that's why they have decided that they no longer need the biker community's money..or maybe they just have a problem with veterans (that is becoming a emerging trend among Hollywood and the yuppie set). Either way, we were made to feel very unwelcome. It's a shame: it used to be a good place to go. We will not go there again.

Rude staff. I have never been treated so rude by restaurant staff as I was tonight. We were talked down to by the wait staff and the management. I never realized that it the uncertain times we are in I would ever be treated like this. I could understand if we were rude but we hadn't been seated yet. All because we rode a motorcycle to the restaurant. I wonder what they would have done if it would have been veterans that pulled in. people that had served this country in times of war like Viet Nam or Desert Storm. Oh wait that is what happened. So not only was the Dog & Duck staff rude to some people that ride motorcycles, they were rude to the people that gave them the freedom to be rude. I can assure you that I am going to let everyone know how they treat people.
