Authentic. Very authentic. Very. It was a taste explosion! Small on the inside, not much of a bar but the food was so great. I liked that you could see inside the kitchen as well- made for some entertainment. I recommend this place to anyone that is a Thai lover.

BEST THAI DOWNTOWN. If you want to try some good Thai food, I highly recommend Basil. Weekends are super busy, though, so be prepared. My advice is go on an off-day (ie. Monday :) and try it out. Then, you can go back on weekends if you think it's worth it. For me, it's definitely worth the wait! Everything I've tried there is good, including pad thai and all the different curries. Very good food--!

RESERVATION FOR 4 WILL COST YOU $100 BUCKS UP FRONT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. This place has good food great service but they need help on getting the whole wait time and taking reservation thing down. It's not very hard to be nice on the phone when someone calls to try and support your place of business by trying to set an reservation for 4 at 6:30 on Saturday. We don't won't to hear we can do that but it will cost you $100 bucks to make a reservation "that's a joke". Then when we show up we are told that it will be 45 minutes and that turns into 75 minutes. Then a 4 top that the rude dirty blonde hair girl must know got seated before us as we heard the deal. I would not go back to eat at this place but carry-out is something that could happen. Also please fire the person that makes the fried ice cream its bad!!! So overall it's good food with too long of wait too sit with a bunch over dressed trying to hook-up Rico Suave.

Best Thi food in Charleston. I've been several times and have always had a good meal. I like the atmosphere and the setting. It does get very busy and can have a long wait, but it is worth it. There is a bar next door if the wait is long they will come and get you at the bar when your table is ready. Service is good and friendly.

Benefits from no direct competition. The service was prompt and pleasant. The decor of the restaurant was trendy. My table had a light placed in a funny way that it cast shadow on my food in a weird way. I don't think I had ever noticed my own shadow at a restaurant.

My girlfriend ordered some dish with tofu. This restaurant put me right back on my soap box about the stupid tofu. Restaurants should stop using these tough, fried tofu. It's not something that should be thrown in as just another type of "meat" at a Thai restaurant. How about some making/using fresh, non-fried, tofu available as an option. I love fried anything and everything except this stuff that's served at these Thai restaurants as tofu. Real tofu should taste better.

My dish was a seafood stir-fry with shrimp, scallops, and squid. It's not bad, but it also didn't distinguish itself.

Their rice is subpar. This is probably my biggest complaint. I can live with the stupid tofu(because I'm resigned to seeing it everywhere) stuff, and I'm ok with the seafood stir-fry being what it is(I'll even consider it tasty because I like seafood), but their ricecooker may be broken, or they do not know how much water to use to cook rice.

The dining experience wasn't horrible, and staff is nice, but I'd consider it expensive for what it is, and there are better alternatives out there. I suppose I would go there if I had to have noodles.

FISRT TIME - WILL NOT BE MY LAST!. This was my very first experience with Thai food. I was a little unsure (even had a second place to go if I was hungry after). No need for that! This was some of the best service I have had in months of dining out! My water glass never got half empty before one of the wonderful staff memebers appeared to fill my glass. When we explained that this was a totaly new experince and we we not sure what to expect, the waitress made sure to take time to explain the menu and dishes. We soon made our choices and I must say we were both very please, very full and very happy. Try the basil rolls the sauce is a little spicy but it is a great way to get the meal started. We ended with the ginger fried ice cream with bananas or otherwise known as AMAZING!!!!

Best pad thai ever!. If you're looking for great Thai food, Basil is the place to go. Get there early because it is packed after 11:45 am. Make reservations for dinner. It's such a happening place that even eating alone at the bar is cool and gives you an opportunity to meet people.

Great Food, Great Service, Great Value. Delicious entrees, great staff and some of the most reasonably priced meals on the peninsula
