I'm moving to Charleston just for Hank's. While on a business trip, Hank's was recommended by many locals. Wow, what a place. I dined there three times over a one week period and was more and more impressed each time. I'm from Boston, and have also lived on the Gulf Coast of Florida, so I have always had good, fresh seafood. Now I live in Atlanta and have to pay a fortune for seafood. Well, Hank's is one of those places that just has the perfect mix of fresh seafood, great imagination, and great service. Hank's has made it into my top 10 all time restaurants.
Great restaurant.... My wife and I dined at Hank's for the first (but not the last) time Saturday. We were seated quickly and had an excellent, knowledgeable server. My wife's oyster stew was the "best she's ever had" - a large bowl of rich, creamy, oyster-laden stew. My she-crab soup was also good. The bread accompanying the appetizers was fresh. Her main entree of shrimp and grits was loaded with shrimp and well-seasoned. I had a broiled combo with flounder, scallops, shrimp and crabcake - the best I've had in the past few trips to Charleston. The service was excellent. We'll definitely be back!
Most Excellent. My wife and I showed up last Saturday night without reservations. No problem, we could wait or sit at the "community table". The "community table" was a blast, couples talking to couples. The food was fantastic, I had the seared tuna and my wife had the stuffed flounder, both excellent. Wait staff bent over backwards to please. An extremely positive experience.
Classy. New in town, Hanks was on my shortlist & I was not disappointed. Excellent food, good winelist. Very Charleston.
Seafood to die for. Busy atmosphere, but exceptional food. The seared scallops were simply and perfect. Sit at the bar for faster and more attentive service.
Stylish & Comfortable: A Winning Combo. I enjoyed Hank's tremendously! The dining room is well-designed and effectively sets the tone for the main event: the wonderful food. The service is excellent. Our server was confident and charming, but not too intrusive. The food was delicious with a lot of variety. I was also surprised at the wide age range that is attracted to Hank's--a nice mix. Everyone seems to be at ease (from jeans to jackets). The entire experience was wonderful and the prices were very reasonable, especially compared to what we would have paid for a similar meal in Atlanta. We will definitely be back.
Absolute Charleston treasure. By far, my favorite restaurant here in Charleston. Great everything. I always brign out of town friends here. Very good food with unique twists such as sweet potato fries. The best key lime pie I've ever had!
Hank's for the Memories. Possibly the world's best fried oysters and then there's Buddy, a bartender with charm of global proportions. "Hank's" is Lowcountry-ease for great food and good fun.
